Night Tour - Nocturnal Wonders of Maungatautari

- Duration: 90 Minutes (approx.)
- Location: Pukeatua, Waikato
- Product code: NWOM
Explore the magical night-time world of Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari with one of our experienced guides, leading you in search of nocturnal wonders.
Venture out by torchlight to discover spiders, millipedes, beetles, and the many species of wētā that emerge at night to feed.
Listen for the haunting calls of kiwi and ruru - New Zealand’s only surviving endemic owl.
Marvel at the twinkling lights of glow-worms and admire the brilliance of silver fern fronds illuminated from beneath.
On a clear night, gaze up at the stars far from the glow of city lights, and learn about Maungatautari’s vital role as a stronghold for western brown kiwi recovery.
You may even be lucky enough to glimpse tiny long-tailed bats flitting along the treeline at dusk, or hear the nocturnal calls of kākā.
Make a night of it and stay at our gorgeous on-site accommodation. Book through Airbnb.
